Big Sweater

Here is Jasper wearing daddy's sweater. Matt says it's red. I say it's dusty rose (you know pink). What do you think?

Hallow'een

Last night, OK it was 4pm, we met up with Amelie, Tom and Meredyth, before heading to downtown Ballard for Trick or Treating. It was a complete zoo of kids and costumes. Highlights were Kate from Jon and Kate plus 8, Swine Flew (I flying pig), Hal 9000 from 2001 Space Odyssey, a tiny lobster baby being carried by a chef... and a Canuck. He was wearing a jersey from the 90s. I said "are you from Canada too?", "uh, no" he said rather nervously. As he walked away and I saw his light wash jeans and Canada Flag fanny pack I realized why.

Bamm Bamm!

Thanks to my mum for making this awesome costume!

Pebbles and Bamm Bamm ready to go

Trick or Treatin' (Jasper had that expression the whole time)

I'm a model, you know what I mean...

I know, I know it's been ages since I've put up some pictures. (Please leave comments, it's very encouraging!). Today I'm sharing some photos from last night. Jasper helped his Grandma make Clio's costume by modeling for her. Grandma already made Jasper's costume; he's going to be Bamm Bamm. So yes, he will be wearing a skirt.

Jasper's 1st birthday!

I don't think we'll forget this one in a hurry. There's a heat-wave here and in fact yesterday was the hottest day ever in Seattle. Other records were broken including the overnight temperature. Today the high will only reach 100.

Yesterday morning we headed over to story-time at the library which was lovely and then we met up with some new friends to play in the spray park. It provided some relief and Jasper had a grand time. At home the temperature got ridiculously hot so we had a bath. When Matt came home we headed out to hunt for a fan, but gave up and decided to move Jasper's crib to the first floor where the temperature is quite pleasant and we moved our mattress to the living room. We had another bath and then we had cupcakes and ice cream on the balcony. Jasper got nesting blocks for his birthday and he seems to like them.

What's this?

It's my birthday!

I can put that candle out.

Ice cream and cupcakes you say?

I'll try that

and that

Mmm

No no more ice cream it's too cold

For me?

What is it?

Nesting blocks

Happy birthday to me!

Finally!

We finally got a video of Jasper walking around. I don't think he noticed he was on camera until the end. The video's also nice and long because of that. This is what he's like in the hour before bed. Walking, talking, pointing; it's got everything.

And some more...

He's getting big!

I can't get over how big Jasper's getting. He does funny new things all the time. Here are some pictures from the new place.

July 4st

We were in Bellevue for July 1st, but in our new place for July 4th. After a long and hard struggle we finally got the baby gate installed and we had the afternoon to hunt for festivities. We walked down to the Ballard locks and stopped off at the water park on the way home. We wore red, white and blue for the occasion. I also wore my maple leaf pin. Jasper was dressed in his sailor suit courtesy of Jack. He was pretty popular with the crowds.

"Drinking" water from a glass

Jasper likes to do grown-up things. Here he is "drinking" water from a glass and sharing it with me. If you're wondering this is the temporary housing we were in for a month in Bellevue. (Apologies for the loud background. It's the Martha Stewart show, Jasper turned up the volume).

Baby TV

We're very excited. Jasper's walking! He took a few steps here and there over the last week or so, but now he's walking on his own without encouragement. Once I caught a look on his face that said "hey I'm walking, I didn't even mean to." Jasper has also figured out how to turn on the TV in our temporary housing. He doesn't watch the TV he just turns it on and off. What he loves to watch are the cars and in particular the buses and trucks on the busy street outside. I call the big window "baby TV".

Now that Jasper's walking he has longer naps (yay!). I picked up a little knit bee for him to snuggle after I snuck into his room and saw this...
